Once Upon A Ballet includes four one-hour ballets, all specially designed for children (ages 3 and up) and the entire family. Designed with the attention span of the youngest child in mind, sophisticated enough for the most discerning adult.

The Alice-in-Wonderland Follies: A Ballet Vaudeville was created by choreographer Keith Michael. Music is by Sousa, Joplin, Verdi, Schumann, Debussy, and many other composers. The colorful, fun-filled romp -- inspired by Lewis Carroll's classic fantasy tales -- features the antics of The White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter, The Caterpillar, The Chesire Cat, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and other beloved Alice in Wonderland characters. This high-spirited, one-hour ballet takes place at New York's Palace Theater, circa 1913.

"This is a classic--and classical Cinderella,
the way art should be as an introduction to children,
and to entertain the older viewer."
Attitude Magazine

"During the pas de deux for Cinderella and the Prince,
a little girl in the audience rose from her seat
and tried to imitate the dancers' steps in the side aisle.
The production caught her up in its magic."
New York Times

New York Theatre Ballet's production of Cinderella is a one-hour ballet that will charm children of all ages.

The story is elaborately told with wicked step-sisters, the fairy godmother, magic slippers, and a most charming prince -- all performed with colorful costumes "reminiscent of the most spectacular book illustrations" and an ingenious mobile set. The ballet features a cast of 14. The ballet is part of NYTB's special repertory for children and families.

Choreographer Donald Mahler was director of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet for years. His staging of NYTB's Cinderella follows a work he originally created for the Met.

The NYTB production has toured extensively and was performed to delighted New York audiences in the early 90s. It is brought back to New York by popular demand.

 Mother GOOSE!

Feb. 3 - 10am
Feb. 4 - 11 am & 1 pm
Feb. 5 - 11am, 1pm, 3:30pm

Mother GOOSE! created by Keith Michael, choreographer of NYTB's delightful, high-spirited Alice-in-Wonderland Follies.

This new one-hour rollicking romp takes the whole family on an antic-filled journey -- simple enough for small children, sophisticated enough for the most discerning adult. Inspired by classic nursery rhymes, this tongue-in-cheek, madcap ballet features such beloved characters as Jack and Jill, Miss Muffet, Jack Sprat and his plump wife, Old King Cole, and The Three Blind Mice.

Set design is by Derek Stenborg and costumes are by Sylvia Taalsohn Nolan, the Metropolitan Opera's resident costume designer. The music, an original work created for this production, is composed by Vladimir Shinov.
