It's a pity that just right before we got to know this incredible show, this longest play (maybe forty something) closed. We were so surprised to see its ad when we were in Philly, but unfortunately the show was sold out. We were forced to miss it again. Surprisingly, we saw its ad again in the magazine. How could we miss it the third time? NEVER!
We've never been to a off-off broadway. I thought off broadway was small enough--but NO! This theater we went to, Chung said, has only 38 seats. Amazing. It's just like a high school drama production--very simple. There's only one piano. That's fine, but I can't stand that there's no proper air condition. The air was so stuffy. I tried to make myself awake to see that show.
It's easy to tell that there's no much producting budget for the show. Two actors are "borrowed," and some are quite green. Thank goodness that the elder, more experienced actors brought some life into the play--or I might have really fallen asleep. I like the leading actor the most--his voice is the kind that I like, tenor. According to the playbill, he just finished the Asian tour of "Sound of Music"--so maybe some of you who went to the show have seen him performing, too. He's the Nazi boy. (Complain: Why does Taiwan have so many musical shows while I am not there? WHY NOW?? >_<)
It's good that I have an oppertunity getting to know this musical. But I don't think I enjoyed off-off broadway that much. I'm a pampered broadway "tourist"...
